Walls is one of the most desired looks by London Interior Designers, Architects and developers. Mirror will visually enlarge the space, giving the room a nice clean finish. The crisp high-end finish will not only reflect and compliment all colours within the space but also help to bounce off more light making the property efficiently bright. Standard non-toughened silvered mirrors are suitable for large wall claddings of bathrooms, shower enclosures, toilets, public areas, hallways, lift interiors, foyers and much smaller applications like furniture cladding, wardrobe sliding doors, wall features etc.
Kitchen mirrored splashbacks are another very popular mirror cladding application, however here you must use Toughened mirror which is high on demand although very hard to obtain. There are currently only hand full companies capable to manufacture toughened mirrors in the UK.
Mirror Cladding can be applied to the wall using Silicone Adhesive which is applied directly to the walls. The second option is less and less chosen choice as the screw caps can interrupt the clean line design. The most popular option is silicon adhesion either directly onto:
1. The Wall/Furniture Surface
3. A recess within a partly tiled wall.
Can the mirror be applied to shower enclosures? Yes, but! A mirror is not an indestructible product and so the silver coating may eventually darken creating antique mirror look around the edges. This can be prevented if sufficient sealing of the edges is applied to prevent moisture creeping behind and affecting silver coating to tarnish. Tarnishing is just a simple chemical reaction between silver and oxygen contained within water molecules, same principal as rusting.
